Harmony EpoS Solutions are pleased to have supplied The Sally, based near Carlisle, Cumbria with, a PC-based EPoS touch screen running G-PoS point of sale software, an Orderman7 handheld waitress system utilising radio communications, Total Control Premier for management sales analysis, stock control and an interface to Sage Line 50 accounting software.

The Sally at Irthington, near Carlisle, Cumbria is a Victorian coaching Inn which reopened in December 2016 following a major £150K refurbishment which included a 55 seater restaurant and bar area. The next phase is 6 en-suite bedrooms.

Having been a customer of Harmony Epos for 7.5 years I would not go anywhere else. They understand my business and the service they provide is second to none. As we have so many integrations with other programmes Craig is a real tech person and is worth his weight in gold. He can rectify most issues over the phone, as can Chris and if there is a problem on site they make a visit as quickly as possible.

We have looked at other systems to see what they do and if they could improve the service to our customers but feel that Fidelity GPOS with Total Control Premier is such a powerful tool to report on your business when compared to other systems I have researched and had demonstrated to me.

The Problem

Shaun Gardner and Jimmy Little purchased The Sally (then known as The Salutation Inn), following a successful 6 years transforming The Brewery House in Workington. It was a return to Jimmy’s roots; he started washing dishes there at the age of 12 before eventually becoming the head chef.

Shaun and Jimmy were keen to bring in systems and procedures which had served so well at their previous venture.

Why Harmony EPOS?

Having met with a number of till providers we felt Harmony Epos at the time provided a number of systems that could grow with our business. Coming from a public sector background I was keen on systems that could integrate together in order for me to see where my business was at the touch of a button. Fidelity G-POS enabled me to do this and the knowledge of the product when demonstrating the system, through to Craig on installation was absolutely fantastic and I could not have asked for better.

The Benefits

"When we first started using Harmony we started off with a basic till system that enabled us to sell items, look at top & bottom selling products so we could try & remove items that did not sell etc. We could also see GP of products and produce many sales and srock reports.

After a while when the business grew we obviously needed more systems that could streamline our service as well as report management information better. We purchased the handheld Orderman system which meant we could offer a slicker system, previously customers ordered at a till point. Having a host that went round just taking orders which printed directly to the till & bars meant that the customers received a slicker and seamless customer experience. The host could go round checking on tables and within seconds could upsell products at the touch of a button without having to go back and forth to the bar, therefore increasing revenue.

As part of this upgrade we purchased the Fidelity back of house software called Total Control Premier which enabled us to integrate with our accounts software, Sage Line 50. This gave us far more information than the stand alone till could & meant I posted all invoices for food & drink through this software to enable me to carry out monthly stocks and this fed directly through to sage for payment through our online banking service. This cut down administration time in the office which meant I could concentrate running the business on the floor to service our guests.

The only negative I would say is whilst I think Total Control Premier is a great system and very powerful – it does not have a GP% stock report which takes into account opening + closing stock + purchases. You have to manually calculate this, although I understand this report is available if you purchase the cloud reporting add-on. It will give you a stock variance / on hand report. It is a good system for retail and hospitaility businesses – the GP% report would make it the complete system for the hospitality market."
